Innovative air duct sealing technology

Aeroseal duct sealing Case study

We are happy to share our experience with Aeroseal sealing technology. Perhaps in some descriptions, you will recognize your situation. You can also use the case as a tip to locate a problem.
Newark, New Jersey
Juliet
Juliet is our regular client. We've been servicing her condo for the last two years. This time we did regular Air duct cleaning. And as the EPA and NADCA recommend service ducts in residential properties every 2 to 4 years, and we cleaned the service yearly, we offered her to run a duct leakage test. Juliet was interested when our technician mentioned a new service – innovative Air duct sealing with an Aeroseal machine.

25-40% of the air that's supposed to blow through your vents
is escaping through cracks and holes in your air ducts? You could be wastefully heating and cooling areas like your attic, crawl space, and even behind walls.
  • Duct Leakage test
    We run the leakage test. As you can see from the picture, the Pre-sealing leakage rate was – 201 CMF. Afterward, we connected the Aeroseal machine and detected holes of the size 38.2 square inches.

  • Aeroseal machine in action
    More about the steps of the service and its benefits here.
    Unlike traditional sealing methods, Aeroseal – computer-controlled aerosol-based sealing technology seals ducts from inside. It blows the tiny aerosol particles into the ductwork. Under the air pressure particles locate and seal leaks throughout the entire duct system. And voila, we're all set with the air.
  • Sealing results
    The pre-sealing leakage rate was – 201 CMF. The post-sealing leakage rate was – 44 CMF.
    Aeroseal detected holes of the size of 38.2 square inches. After the sealing, it was reduced to 8.4 square inches.
  • What sealing results meant for Juliet
    The final reduction of Air Duct leakage equals 78% cfm (cubic feet per minute), and Heating and Cooling capacity improvement is 13%.
    This means, now Juliet won't need to clean air ducts yearly, her HVAC unit capacity increased, and so will her yearly energy bill.
Results of the sealing:
- dust no longer builds up excessively;
- even temperatures throughout the house;
- eliminated window A/C;
- lowered yearly energy bills.
